AS the old expression goes: buy cheap, buy twice.
So with that in mind, I have reviewed Emma’s Cloud Duvet to see if it’s worth your cash and whether it can help you get a good night’s sleep.
The Emma Cloud duvet is temperature regulatingEmma Cloud Duvet, from £54.50
BUY FROM EMMABefore testing Emma’s Cloud duvet, I simply hadn’t considered an upgrade worth the investment.
My ethos was: who wants to transport a bulky, cheap duvet cross-country in an already packed-out hatchback when you could just spend an extra tenner in a supermarket when you get to your new home?
So I’ve bought a lot of duvets over the years, but the Emma Cloud Duvet is the first I’ve owned that I will be making a commitment to keep hold of.
It boasts temperature-regulating features and made with a material that has a ‘cloud-like’ feeling, so I am intrigued to see if it can live up to its hype…
Pros:
Outstanding temperature regulation, Lightweight yet warm Machine washable at high temperatures, Fluffy cloud-like feel 200-night trial periodCons:
Higher price point than standard duvets, though justified by performanceRating: 4/5
How I tested
I tried out the Emma Cloud duvet over several weeks, evaluating how comfortable it was to sleep in, whether it lived up to its temperature-regulating claims and how well-rested I felt using it.
I also considered whether it is good value for money, well made and easy to clean and maintain in comparison to duvets I have used in the past.

What we loved: It feels every bit as lux as goosedown, so it’s a great alternative if you’d prefer not to buy animal products.
What we didn’t: The only real drawback is the price – it’s definitely an investment compared to basic high-street options.

Emma Cloud Duvet review
Most people will be familiar with Emma for its mattresses and the brand is typically at the more affordable end of the scale when it comes to mattress-in-a-box companies.
The Emma Cloud duvet is lightweight, super-soft and not bulky in the slightest.
Its 6.7 tog rating means it’s a great intermediate duvet that should please most unless you run very hot or very cold at night.
Emma’s Cloud Duvet is made from super-soft microfiber, and in my opinion, it feels every bit as lux as goosedown, so it’s a great alternative if you’d prefer not to buy animal products.

The duvet weighs between 1.5kg and 2.88kg depending on the size you get and you can find out the specific weight of your chosen model here.
An added bonus is it’s machine-washable up to 60°C, so you can keep your bedding fresh without a costly trip to the laundrette or dry cleaners, no matter how many cups of coffee you accidentally slosh over it.
The Emma Cloud duvet isn’t cheap (the RRP was £100 when this review was first published) and this is the biggest drawback.
You could certainly buy a nice duvet for less, but at the time of writing, the Cloud Duvet is on sale at £54.50 and I’d be surprised if you couldn’t find a similar deal throughout the year.
It’s definitely worth waiting for a sale to get the lowest possible price on it, but I would say even at full price it is worth the cash.
Emma also makes a commitment to ensure its products last and you’ll even get a 14-night trial with free returns to give the Cloud Duvet a whirl yourself.
I’d recommend giving it a go.

What tog is the Emma Cloud Duvet?
The tog or Thermal Overall Grade determines how warm a duvet is and consumers can use this as a guide when looking for the right duvet to suit their sleeping requirements.
The Emma Cloud Duvet is a lightweight duvet with a 6.7 tog, made from a microfibre material which gives it the ‘cloud-like’ feel.
The thermal regulating design allows a flow of fresh air through its material and limits the reproduction of bacteria. The duvet aims to keep you cool in summer and teams perfectly with a cooling mattress if you are a naturally sweaty sleeper.
But is also ideal for keeping you cosy and warm in the chillier winter months, making it a versatile option for someone who doesn’t want to change duvets midway through the year.
How to wash the Emma Cloud Duvet?
Thankfully, the Emma Cloud duvet is machine-washable up to 60°C, which is ideal for a low-effort way of keeping it clean.
As a guide, it is best to wash your duvet every few months for hygiene reasons and at a minimum duvets should ideally be washed at least every six months.
Washing a duvet helps rid it of any sweat, skin cell residue, smells and dust that naturally builds up when sleeping in it daily, not to mention the odd drink spillage or crumbs if you eat and drink in bed.
How often should you replace your duvet?
A good quality duvet that is properly cared for can last you years.
Most standard duvets with normal wear and tear will last at least five years, but obviously this depends on how you sleep and how frequently you clean and maintain your duvet through the years.
The Emma Cloud Duvet has a 14-night trial when you initially buy, so if you’re not happy with it you can return it.
If your trial ends and you need to return it afterwards Emma allows you to do so using its Returns Portal to start the process.
