Lennox Lewis is backing Daniel Dubois, while Tony Bellew is in Oleksandr Usyk’s corner with their rematch now confirmed.
Usyk and Dubois first met in 2023, which ended in controversy as the latter dropped his rival with a shot which was deemed an illegal low blow.
Lewis and Bellew have differing opinions on Usyk and Dubois’ second fightThe Ukrainian went on to stop the Briton, but Dubois will get a shot at redemption in their sequel at Wembley Stadium on July 19.
Dubois has shown notable improvements since their first fight, which he showed in an impressive KO win over Anthony Joshua last September.
But Usyk is the man to beat and the favourite, having since beaten Tyson Fury twice.
And Bellew, who was stopped by Usyk in 2018, believes his former opponent will get the stoppage once again.
He said: “Usyk is the best heavyweight in the world. He’s probably the best heavyweight of our era, there is no disputing it anymore.
“He’s amazing at what he does. Dubois has been amazing. I’ve wrote him off on a number of occasions and he’s come back to prove me wrong.
“You’ve got to give him a shot and he’s in with a chance, but Usyk has already made him quit once so can he make him do it again?
“He is at a stage in his career now where he’s overcome such adversity and he’s the most confident he’s ever been but I think he’ll get stopped between rounds eight and 12.”
Usyk is supremely confident of getting the job done in what is planned to be one of his two final fights.
‘The Cat’ is in the prime of his career and looks extremely formidable.
Usyk beat Dubois in their first fight two years agoGettyBut Dubois too is fired up and wants to become the first man to knock out Usyk, carrying dynamite power in both hands.
And former undisputed heavyweight champion Lewis is one who is backing the 27-year-old to cause an upset this summer.
He disagreed with Bellew, predicting: “I’m thinking he’s ready. He’s been through the trials and tribulations.
“He’s the king slayer. He’s got the power. He’s been there before. He was just there, he knocked the guy down, so he knows what he needs to do.
“It’s not an easy task, but he’s definitely the man that can go through with it. He’s done the work. He’s gone through the pedigree.
“He’s a certified world champion and I think he has big hopes on doing it. He’s going to do it.
Dubois will have his shot at revenge against UsykRichard Pelham/Queensberry Promotions“Obviously he’s seen a weakness in the first fight. I believe that there’s a weakness, you gotta attack it. Don’t give him no shortcuts.
“This fight is everything. I know Daniel’s a pretty determined, focused fighter. He’s going to be ready.”
Dubois will face the biggest challenge of his career, but the prize is huge.
The Briton could become just the second undisputed heavyweight champion after Usyk since Lewis picked up the crown in 1999.
