Roosevelt High School honored 38 seniors Friday at its second annual Work-Based Learning College, Training and Career Signing Day.
The event highlighted seniors who completed internships and career-connected experiences of 60 hours or more through the school’s work-based learning program, according to a news release by Rebecca Albert Vollrath, Weld RE-5J Director of Career and Technical Education.
Seniors held internships and career opportunities at the Johnstown Breeze, Don Juan’s Mexican Restaurant, Davis Family Livestock and more. The district also opened up job opportunities at elementary schools, the IT and custodial departments, Roosevelt High School’s student store and printshop and more.
Signing Day celebrated student achievements and bright futures with decorated tables of personalized Roosevelt High School gear, college merchandise, photos and mementos from employer partners, the release said. The festive atmosphere surrounds seniors with family, friends, mentors and high school staff members as they head toward their next step of college, technical training or the workforce.
“This celebration is the heart of students applying skills, building professional networks, and confidently stepping into their futures,” Vollrath said. “Our community partnerships, coupled with the students’ drive and determination, are opening doors to success beyond high school. We can’t wait to see the impact these young professionals will make.”
