This week’s Orange County high school baseball rankings, as of Monday, April 28.
Notable this week: Newport Harbor, which beat Huntington Beach in two of their three Sunset League games last week, soars from No. 15 to No. 4 in the rankings. … Huntington Beach remains at No. 1. … Laguna Beach keeps winning and keeps rising. The Breakers are up to No. 15. … Four teams not in the Top 25 last week are in it this week: No. 22 Crean Lutheran, No. 23 Brea Olinda, No. 24. La Habra and No. 25 El Toro.
ORANGE COUNTY BASEBALL TOP 25

1. Huntington Beach (19-4): The Oilers lost two of their three Sunset League games last week against Newport Harbor, but they remain in first place with a 12-2 league record. Jared Grindlinger homered and drove in three runs in the Oilers’ 4-2 win. Jayton Greer homered for Huntington Beach in a 6-3 loss. Huntington Beach plays Edison in a three-game league series that begins Tuesday at Edison.

They lost the first game 11-4 and won the next two 11-1 and 7-0. In the 7-0 win, Wyatt Hanoian homered and drove in five runs and starting pitcher Same Principe gave up just one hit. Josiah Hartshorn had four RBIs and Hamilton Friedberg had three RBIs in the 11-1 win. Orange Lutheran plays Mater Dei in three league games this week beginning Tuesday at Mater Dei.

3. Santa Margarita (13-11): The Eagles won two of their three games against JSerra in the Trinity League. Carter Enoch hit a walk-off, two-run single in a 3-2 win for Eagles to open the series. Warren Gravely IV hit a three-run triple in their 5-1 win. Santa Margarita plays a three-game league series against Servite this week starting with a home game Tuesday.

4. Newport Harbor (19-6): The Sailors won two of their three Sunset League games against Huntington Beach last week. Lucas Perez homered and pitched in the 6-3 win Friday, Newport Harbor’s second win of the series. He was 2 for 4 in the other win. The Sailors, in second place in the Sunset League, have a three-game series against Marina this week.

5. Cypress (15-10): The Centurions split a two-game series with El Dorado in the Crestview League. Cypress lost the first game 4-0 and won the second game 13-2. In the victory Greg Prophet was 3 for 3 and Noah Johnson drove in three runs.

6. Villa Park (18-5): The Spartans, in second place behind Cypress in the Crestview League, played two nonleague games last week. They beat Pacifica 6-2 and Bishop Amat 6-3. Aidan Young homered and drove in three runs in the win over Bishop Amat. Villa Park plays a crucial two-game series against Foothill in the Crestview League this week.

7. Los Alamitos (15-8-2): The Griffins lost to Mira Costa 4-1 in a nonleague game Saturday, their only game of last week. Tyler Smith doubled and drove in the Los Alamitos run. The Griffins, in fourth place in the Sunset League, resume league play this week with three games against Fountain Valley.

8. JSerra (10-12): The Lions lost two of their three Trinity League games against Santa Margarita. Jordan Marian was 3 for 3 with four RBIs in a 6-1 win over Santa Margarita. JSerra plays league-leading St. John Bosco in a three-game series this week starting Tuesday at St. John Bosco.

9. El Dorado (18-6): The Golden Hawks split a two-game series against Cypress in the Crestview League. El Dorado won the first game 4-0 as Logan Steenburgen pitched a shutout and Diego Gonzalez hit a two-run home run. The Golden Hawks play two league games this week against El Modena.

10. Foothill (16-9): The Knights split a two-game Crestview League series against El Modena. Sean Green’s three-run home run in the bottom of the 10th inning got Foothill a 4-1 win in the first game of the series. Foothill plays at Villa Park on Wednesday to start a two-game league series.
