The USC-to-Houston pipeline is now open.
The Texans selected their second Trojan in the NFL draft when they chose running back Woody Marks with the 14th pick of the fourth round Saturday.
The 5-foot-10, 207-pound redshirt senior joins Trojans teammate Jaylin Smith in Houston after the defensive back was drafted 97th overall, with the 33rd pick of the third round Friday, by the Texans.
Drafted 116th overall, Marks was the 10th running back off the board and went one pick before the Rams traded up for Auburn back Jarquez Hunter.
The seventh Trojans running back drafted since 2010, Marks rushed for 1,133 yards – the Trojans’ first 1,000-yard rusher since Ronald Jones II amassed 1,550 yards in 2017 – and nine touchdowns on 198 carries last season, averaging 87.15 yards per game. Possibly equally as important is the All-Big Ten second-teamer caught 47 passes, which tied for second on the Trojans, for 321 yards.
In five seasons, with the first four spent at Mississippi State, Marks totaled 608 carries for 3016 yards (5.0 avg.) and 31 touchdowns. He added 261 receptions for 1,546 yards (4.8 avg.) with five touchdowns.
