Both teams got strong performances from their starters. Tennessee’s Liam Doyle recorded 6.2 scoreless innings. Doyle allowed only 1 hit, striking out 6 while walking 3 over 109 pitches. LSU’s Kade Anderson helped the Tigers stay in it, giving up 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 7.1 IP, striking out 11 and walking 3 on 114 pitches.
Nate Snead was the losing pitcher for Tennessee. The Vols committed 2 costly errors that led to a parade of unearned runs. Jacob Mayers was the winning pitcher for LSU, despite giving up 1 run in the top of the 9th.
