AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Public Health said it is investigating a reported case of measles in a vaccinated adult who officials believe was exposed to the virus while traveling in the U.S.
"The Travis County resident is isolating with mild symptoms," APH said in its release.
This case would be considered the second case in Travis County this year. In February, Austin reported its first measles case since 2019. Officials said at the time they believed the unvaccinated infant was exposed to the disease while traveling overseas.
The state has 646 confirmed cases, with most of those coming from an outbreak in West Texas, the Texas Department of State Health Services said on Friday.
Two "school-aged," unvaccinated children have died during the outbreak, DSHS said.
In the press release, APH provided a list of believed exposure locations. Officials said anyone who is unvaccinated and pregnant or immunocompromised and who visited any of these locations at the time listed below should contact their health care provider.
