AARON Rodgers’ future in the NFL was all but confirmed Thursday, according to an ESPN insider.

The 41-year-old has been considering an offer from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rodgers is a free agent ever since he was released by the New York Jets in March.

He has yet to make a decision on whether he’ll retire or carry on playing.

ESPN signed Peter Schrager from NFL Network just weeks before the draft.

Schrager appeared on The Pat McAfee Show during their NFL Draft spectacular Thursday night.

The panel were reacting to the Pittsburgh Steelers skipping on Shedeur Sanders with the No. 21 overall pick.

Pittsburgh instead opted for Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon.

And Schrager thinks it was another sign that Rodgers is on his way to the Steelers.

“I thought it was the one place for Shedeur,” Schrager said about the No. 21 pick

“I know he had a good meeting with Tomlin – I know he had a meeting that was five hours long.”

Schrager added, “Truth of the matter is, if you’re in the Aaron Rodgers game, the last thing you would do is draft a quarterback tonight.

“Then go to Aaron and be like ‘no, we’re still committed to you.’

“This tells me you’re all in on Rodgers and you’re going to give help to Rodgers.

“Shedeur made sense at No. 21.

“But this tells me even more so that this is Rodgers and the Steelers and that’s the future.”

Pittsburgh currently has just two veteran quarterbacks on their roster in Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said last month that the Steelers are “optimistic” about their quarterback room.

“We’re still evaluating the acquisition of a guy at the position,” Tomlin said at the annual league meeting in Palm Beach, Florida.

“Whether it’s free agency and/or the draft, we’re doing our due diligence communicating with some free agents.

“We’re also preparing for the draft.

“We’re optimistic about the room that we’re constructing.

“Obviously, we’re excited about having Mason Rudolph back.

“But certainly we’re going to continue to explore all our options in terms of rounding that room out.”
