Man fatally shot at Oakland gas station ...Middle East

OAKLAND — A 31-year-old man was fatally shot Wednesday night at an East Oakland gas station, authorities said.

The name of the man, an Oakland resident, has not been released pending notification of his family.

The shooting, which activated a gunshot detection system alert, happened about 11:07 p.m. Wednesday at the Royal Gas Station, 10151 International Blvd.

The man was shot by another person while standing near a gas pump, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released a motive for the killing.  No arrests have been made and no suspect information has been released.

The killing is the 27th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year.  Last year at this time police had investigated 25 homicides in the city.
