While Simanchal Behera was arrested early and forwarded to court, the other five accused remained absconding. In 2011, Simanchal, Murali, Kalia, and Purna Behera were arrested and sentenced to life. Sankar Behera was apprehended and convicted in 2023. Mouza Mishra, the last fugitive, was arrested on April 24, 2025, by the Gosaninugaon police team, as announced by Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.
The conviction of Mouza Mishra marks the final chapter in a nearly two-decade-long pursuit of justice, with all six accused now sentenced to life.
