18-year-old charged with attempted murder in Aurora shooting captured in music video ...Middle East

DENVER (KDVR) — An 18-year-old repeat offender is facing charges of first-degree attempted murder in a shooting at an Aurora gas station that was caught on camera.

On Tuesday, the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office said Mark Jackson was charged with the following:

Twelve counts of first-degree attempted murder First-degree assault Thirteen counts of crime of violence Possession of a dangerous weapon Possession of a weapon by a previous offender Criminal mischief

On April 4 at around 10 p.m., Aurora police were called to a gas station in the 3200 block of North Peoria Street for a shooting.

The victims said they were filming a music video when several rounds were fired from a white SUV driving south on Peoria Street. The victims released the music video to the police, where the rapid-fire shots can be heard.

A male teenager was injured and taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Aurora police said he survived.

Jackson and a 16-year-old passenger were later arrested after a brief foot pursuit with Aurora police.

Police believe that Jackson did not know the victims and targeted them randomly.

Suspect had 'extensive violent' history

According to the Aurora Police Department, Jackson has an “extensive violent criminal history,” including a prior weapons conviction and an active attempted murder case.

Jackson was convicted of possession of a weapon by a previous juvenile offender in a 2023 case. He is serving a two-year parole sentence from the Colorado Division of Youth Services.

In October 2024, Aurora police arrested Jackson in connection with a carjacking that occurred hours before his 18th birthday. He is the active defendant charged with attempted first-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder, among other charges, in the Arapahoe District Court.

At the time of the gas station shooting, Jackson was out on bond after paying the $80,000 bond.
