As NFL Draft rumors heat up with Round 1 set to begin on Thursday, Jalen Milroe’s stock appears to be rising.
Milroe was confirmed as one of the NFL Draft attendees last week, which implies he expects to hear his name called in the first round. While that hasn’t necessarily been the expectation from experts in the lead-up to the draft, Milroe certainly has a case for being picked on Day 1.
According to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, multiple NFL decision-makers have said Milroe is the best ball carrier from the quarterback position that they’ve ever evaluated. That includes the likes of Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and plenty other speedsters who have been drafted in recent years.
“Several — not one — several coaches and scouts told me as I was making calls about all these quarterbacks is Jalen Milroe is the greatest runner of the football they’ve ever evaluated at the quarterback position,” Pelissero said Monday on Good Morning Football. “Not Lamar Jackson … Jalen Milroe is the best runner that they’ve ever seen.”
Milroe decided to enter the 2025 NFL Draft despite having another season of eligibility remaining. Last season at Alabama, he rushed for 726 yards and 20 touchdowns. Milroe’s rushing ability was a huge part of Alabama’s offense and he backed that up with a great 4.40 40-yard dash time at the Tide’s pro day earlier this month.
The 2025 NFL Draft will begin on Thursday in Green Bay.
