Auburn has reached into the DII ranks to land a promising player that averaged nearly 20 points and 10 rebounds a game as a true freshman.
Elyjah Freeman, from Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee, has pledged to play for the Tigers, according to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.
Freeman, a product of Wellington High School in Florida and a McDonald’s All-American Team nominee, signed with Lincoln Memorial out of the class of 2024. He immediately impressed, playing 28 games (starting 25) while averaging 19.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. Freeman was also a 46.3 percent shooter from 3-point range and 25th among qualifying players in the country in field goal percentage (58.6 percent).
He entered the transfer portal at the end of the season, ultimately deciding to continue his college career in the SEC with Auburn. The Tigers, of course, are coming off the program’s second-ever Final Four appearance.
Auburn now has 4 players pledged out of the transfer portal. On Tuesday, it signed KeShawn Murphy (Mississippi State) while adding Kevin Overton (Texas Tech) on Friday and Keyshawn Hall (UCF) on April 2. Emeka Opurum was also brought in from the JUCO ranks.
Heading into Saturday, Auburn had the country’s No. 9 transfer class, according to 247Sports.
