The Daily Mail reports that the issues were first flagged on Wednesday, as a glitch caused outages in multiple states.
These included Texas, Arizona, Missouri, and New York.
But it seems the problem has gotten much worse, with the Easter weekend just hours away.
Sam’s Club has also been implicated, with the website and online stores being hit, too.
The tracker DownDetector said that reports sparked from a small trickle into more than 3,600 alerts every five minutes.
SHOCKED SHOPPERS
Shoppers online are shocked by the sudden issue, and have taken to social media to share their outrage.
One Facebook, one person asked: “WTF is going on with Walmart today.
“I cannot get the app or website to work at all.”
The desperate customer was met with several people assuring her that they were having major issues, too.
One Walmart employee commented: “I work for them and the system was down. No more orders were coming in.
“We are going to be severely backed up.”
Another shopper expressed their worry: “The website was working for me earlier, but it stopped working about five minutes ago.
“The app isn’t working either. Every time I log back in, it logs me out again.”
On the thread, the only real advice was to sit tight as the problem is solved.
One person wrote: “It’s down nationwide.
“I’m a driver for them. It’s crashed. Give it time.”
ANXIOUS TIMES
Shoppers cannot be blamed for being anxious however, and neither could Walmart.
Online sales have become a huge driver of profit for them.
Out of every $100 spent at Walmart, $18 of it is done online.
Shoppers are also trying to make the most of Walmart‘s Easter deals, but right now they are unable to.
Top Grocery Delivery Apps:
Shoppers can save time by getting someone else to get their groceries for them using a variety of apps and services.
Instacart: Works with major retailers including Albertsons, ALDI, Costco, CVS, Kroger, Sam’s Club, and Wegmans. Groceries can be delivered as quickly as one hour and can be arranged to suit your schedule. However, prices can differ compared to those that are in-store. There is a $99 per year or $9.99 per month membership fee.
Amazon Fresh: This is an off-shoot of Amazon. It offers customers fresh groceries and household goods. The service works similarly to Instacart and offers same-day delivery and exclusive offers to those with Amazon Prime.
Walmart Grocery: Walmart shoppers can place orders via the Walmart app and either pick them up or have them delivered to their door. The retailer calls it “the easiest way to shop.”
Shipt: Membership costs $99 per year with unlimited free deliveries on orders over $35. It enables customers to speak directly with their assigned Shipt shoppers to make special requests. The company also works closely with Target.
Kroger Delivery: Kroger shoppers can get their groceries taken to their door at a delivery time that suits them. It also offers customers the chance to spend digital coupons so they do not miss out on key deals. However, the retailer’s service does not offer same-day delivery.
Target Same-Day Delivery: Orders can arrive within a few hours of being placed. Shoppers can get real-time updates on their orders which will allow for last-minute changes and special requests. Target states that there are “no delivery markups” and Target Circle deals are included. Shoppers can pay per delivery or become a Target Circle 360 member for unlimited deliveries.
Select Easter meals are priced below $6 per person and children’s Easter baskets are priced below $20.
But most of those deals are only accessible online.
Walmart has widely advertised that all of its Easter deals are available through one-click ordering, same-day pickup, and Express Delivery.
It has been confirmed that the issues have been resolved, but delays are still expected.
It is not known when things will be back to working as normal.
