Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar and Cheteshwar Pujara have sounded a warning to an out-of-form Glenn Maxwell ahead of the RCB vs PBKS match. In 6 matches, the Australian has only managed to score 41 runs and averages a miserable 8.20. While Bangar spoke about how Maxwell was saved from the scrutiny during his stint at RCB, Pujara claimed that it was high-time the all-rounder woke up from his slumber.

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Pujara reckoned that Maxell was sometimes very casual about his approach to the IPL. He said that any other player performing so miserably would have been shown the doors by PBKS.
“The way he bats hasn’t changed much. He hasn’t changed the way he has approached the IPL. There have been times where he’s been a little casual. He’s the same what he was maybe eight-ten years ago. I’m a little critical, but there are times where as a player you need to wake up,” Pujara said.
What changed for Maxi after move from RCB to PBKS
Bangar pointed out that unlike his stint at RCB, Maxwell was being seen as their go-to overseas batter. He noted that during his 3-year stint with RCB, the all-rounder was only expected to deliver impactful performances while majority of the heavy-lifting was done by Virat Kohli and then skipper Faf du Plessis.
“Those three years at RCB, he had a couple of batters around him who took the attention away from him. There was Virat [Kohli], Faf du Plessis – he wasn’t really the main guy the team looked up to for miracles. He was expected to do those impactful performances, and he was delivering quite well,” Bangar said.
Maxwell is expected to feature in the playing XI once again on Friday. He will come face to face with his former franchise as RCB take on PBKS in Bengaluru.
