Gas leak prompts evacuations in San Francisco neighborhood ...Middle East

(KRON) -- A gas leak has prompted evacuations in San Francisco's India Basin neighborhood on Thursday afternoon, according to the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD). Crews responded to a three-inch gas line rupture in the area of the 400 block of Cargo Way and 3rd Street.

A commercial industrial building, located on the 1500 block of Burke Street, was evacuated for safety, SFFD said. PG&E crews are also at the scene in response.

Officials did not say how many people were evacuated.

As of 2:46 p.m., the 400 block of Cargo Way at 3rd Street and Illinois Street is blocked off for traffic. At this time, there are no injuries reported in connection with the gas leak.

The public is asked to avoid the area while SFFD crews respond to the incident.
