The spring window of the college football transfer portal opened Wednesday, April 16 and will close Friday, April 25. Players who intend to transfer must enter their names into the portal before the window closes, but do not need to have selected their next school by then.

Gbayor’s move to UNC marked his second foray into the transfer portal in less than a year. He spent four seasons at Nebraska, redshirting in 2021 and 2022. He began to carve out a role on the Huskers’ defense in 2023, appearing in all 12 of the team’s games and starting four. Gbayor then made 11 starts in 2024, finishing with 49 total tackles, six tackles for loss, three pass break-ups, two fumble recoveries and a sack. Gbayor earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in both 2023 and 2024. He will have two seasons of eligibility with UNC.
