Baseball roundup: Huntington Beach defeats Los Alamitos with walk-off HR ...Middle East

Ethan Porter hit a walk-off home run in the eighth inning for Huntington Beach in a 3-2 win over Los Alamitos in a Sunset League game Tuesday.

The Oregon State signee hit a RBI double earlier in the contest. The Oilers’ Jared Grindlinger had two hits with a stolen base and a RBI.

Cal signee Otto Espinoza had nine strikeouts in 6⅓ innings with two runs allowed for Huntington Beach (16-2, 8-0). TCU commit Tanner Brown had three strikeouts in 1⅔ innings of relief to get the win.

It was the first league game for Huntington Beach, ranked No. 1 in Orange County, since going 3-1 in the National High School Invitational last week in North Carolina.

Tyler Smith went 2 for 4 with a stolen base and a RBI for No. 4-ranked Los Alamitos (15-5-2, 8-4). Gavin Porch added a double and one RBI.

Also in the Sunset League on Tuesday:

Corona del Mar 5, Marina 4 (11 innings): Will Chiechi hit a go-ahead RBI double in the 11th inning in a road win over Marina.

JJ Haley and Ganon Overfelt each had two hits with one RBI for Corona del Mar (9-12, 3-10). Ben Stone, Noah Bertrant and Stevie Jones combined to pitch 7⅓ innings of scoreless relief.

Nicholas Murrey allowed one earned run in seven innings for Marina (9-11, 2-8) with four strikeouts. Jayden Reichelt had a triple with two stolen bases and Luke Pratali added two hits with one RBI.

Newport Harbor 1, Fountain Valley 0: Gavin Guy pitched a shutout for Newport Harbor (15-5, 7-3) with six strikeouts.

The UC Santa Barbara commit scattered eight hits. Sophomore Grant Horsley drove in the lone run of the game.

Josh Grack had three hits for Fountain Valley (11-7. 5-4) and Tyler Peshke hit a triple.

In the Trinity League:

Orange Lutheran 3, Santa Margarita 0: Stanford signee Colt Peterson pitched a two-hit shutout for Orange Lutheran in a road win.

Trevor Deack drove in two runs for Orange Lutheran (15-4, 4-3) and Rock Akahi added one RBI.

Brody Schumaker and Liam Stuppy had hits for Santa Margarita (11-8, 3-4).

In the Empire League:

Tustin 2, Fullerton 1 (10 innings): Tustin scored the winning run on a fielding error by Troy in the 10th inning.

Jeff Nesmith allowed just two hits and one run in eight innings for Tustin (6-13-1, 3-2-1). Adam Whyte had two doubles and Angel Rodriguez drove in a run.

Declan Fitzgerald had eight strikeouts in five innings for Troy (13-6-1, 4-1). Wayne Warden had two hits and Miguel Velasquez had one RBI.

In the Golden West League:

Segerstrom 2, Kennedy 1: Adrian Landeros pitched five shutout innings for Segerstrom (12-7, 5-2).

Jullian Hernandez went 2 for 4 with one RBI for the Jaguars and Nathan Nunez added a stolen base and one RBI.

Tyler Onofre allowed one earned run in a complete game for Kennedy (12-10, 3-4). Axel Rojas went 3 for 3 and Ayden Torres had a RBI double.

Katella 8, Buena Park 4: Kevin Reyes Mejia drove in three runs for Katella in a win over Buena Park.

Andrew Ureno had two hits with a stolen base and one RBI for Katella (14-4, 3-2).

Jose Arcos allowed no earned runs in five innings for Buena Park (7-14, 1-6). Dominick Reyes went 3 for 4 with a RBI and Isaac Rojas had two hits with one RBI.

In the North Hills League:

Troy 6, Esperanza 0: Darren Woo pitched a shutout with eight strikeouts for Troy (13-5, 2-2).

Woo also had a big day at the plate with three hits including two doubles with three RBIs. Zach Blume drove in two runs and Nico Lopez scored three runs.

In the Grove League:

Loara 34, Western 0: Loara (12-2, 9-0) scored 21 runs in the first two innings and had 26 hits in a rout of Western.

Cesar Ponce went 6 for 7 with two doubles, a stolen base and six RBIs. David Poe had a double, a triple with four RBIs.

Carter Smith pitched four shutout innings with just one hit allowed and seven strikeouts. He also went 4 for 6 with a double, a stolen base and two RBIs.

In the Orange League:

Magnolia 11, Santa Ana Valley 3: Gabe Segura had a big game with three hits, a triple, two stolen bases and one RBI for Magnolia.

Blake Jaques had a double and drove in three runs for Magnolia (6-9, 4-5). Santiago Cortez had five strikeouts in five innings to earn the win.
