Le Creuset Pizza Stone, BlueWhy I Love Le Creuset’s Pizza Stone
When I say I’m obsessed with Le Creuset, I am far from kidding. While it is true that most pizza stones will suffice in the average home kitchen scenario, I can’t help but be obsessed with Le Creuset’s dual-sided versatility and timeless appearance. It’s the perfect gift for Mother’s Day, or an easy addition to anybody’s cookware arsenal. Best of all, its $90 price point is paired with a variety of color options and a level of durability that would make any mother proud.

Le Creuset’s Pizza Stone is generously sized to accommodate a large 15-inch pizza. It sports a dual-sided design with a colorful glazed side that is both smooth and virtually non-stick. The unglazed side offers a similar surface to that of a brick oven, while both sides effortlessly produce crispy and perfectly chewy crusts every single time.
In my experience, Le Creuset’s pizza stone is the closest I’ve ever gotten to restaurant-quality pies at home. The glazed surface provided some of the best textured pizza I’ve ever made in my life and not a single pie stuck to its surface. I was most impressed by how well the stone retains heat, which comes in handy when trying to recreate your favorite pizza styles without the privilege of having an actual brick oven.

How to Use Le Creuset’s Pizza Stone
For starters, the stone needs to be preheated along with your oven so it can be ripping hot when ready to bake. Keep in mind that every oven works differently, but 500°F has been the sweet spot for me when making my homemade pizzas. I like making New York-style pies, in which case a 12- to 15-inch pizza only needs roughly 10 to 15-minutes of bake time to achieve excellence. When all is said and done, I simply wash the stone clean with warm water and a neutral soap before letting it air dry on the rack.

Because this particular pizza stone sports a thermal temperature resistance ranging from -9°F to 500°F, it can be employed in the freezer, oven, microwave, broiler and dishwasher with ease. It’s meant to be thrown through the ringer in more ways than one while promising uniform browning and even cooking with zero hot spots. It’s nonporous, non-reactive, scratch-resistant and also resistant to stains and flavor absorption like a boss.
