Kylian Mbappe has escaped a lengthy ban following his sending off for Real Madrid on Sunday.
The forward was shown a straight red card for a horror challenge in the first half of their 1-0 LaLiga win against Alaves.

Mbappe was initially shown a yellow card for the foul before a VAR review saw the decision upgraded to a straight red.
Fans believe the 26-year-old should have received an extended suspension but the Spanish Football Federation have said otherwise.
They have revealed his ban in a document that reads: “1-match suspension for a violent incident occurring during the game or as a direct consequence of a game-related incident, with additional fines pursuant to Article 52 of the Civil Code. [Article 130.1]”
Mbappe will miss the LaLiga clash against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, but return for their following fixture away to Getafe on April 23.
He will also be available to face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final on April 26.
Many were left stunned by the lunge as they slammed Mbappe on social media.
Reacting to the incident, one supporter wrote: “Mbappe’s lost his whole mind there, that’s a potential leg breaker…”
Another added: “That is absolutely disgraceful from Mbappe. Rightly sent off, one of the worst challenges I’ve seen.”

Meanwhile, Piers Morgan also shared his thoughts on X, writing: “Disgusting ‘tackle’ by Mbappe… Vicious intent and could have broken the guy’s leg.
“Red card should be the very least of his punishment.”
Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley also hit out at Mbappe’s challenge, stating: “The fact that [Blanco] isn’t in the back of an ambulance going to the hospital with a snapped leg is sheer luck.
“That is an egotistical big head who thinks he can do what he wants.”
It is the first time Mbappe has been sent off for six years, dating back to April 2019.

Madrid teammate Jude Bellingham was previously hit with a two-match ban after he was sent off for dissent in February.

Bitter rivals Barcelona currently sit four points clear at the top of the table, with an El Clasico still to come on May 11.
Carlo Ancelotti will have Mbappe available in Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal on Wednesday, live on talkSPORT.
Madrid were beaten 3-0 in the first leg and must therefore score four goals with no reply to avoid extra-time and reach the semi-finals.
