'The Last Of Us' Fans Are Upset About One Character’s Casting ...Saudi Arabia

News by : (Parade) -

The latest gripe that fans have with the series comes after the introduction of Abby — who is played by Kaitlyn Dever — during the first episode of season two of the HBO series, which premiered on Sunday, April 13. Fans are upset because Dever, 28, is not as muscular and physically imposing as the character in the video game which the series is based on.

“Usually I'm not one to care about switching the look of characters in adaptations but Abby REALLY should be jacked in The Last of Us. I understand it's not ‘essential to her character’ BUT have we just entirely forgotten about the art of character design?” wrote one fan.

A third fan explained, “My only gripe with The Last of Us S2, it doesn’t stop me from enjoying the show, is Abby not being buff. I feel her muscular build is intrinsic to her character because of her presence and how she commands the room,” before they noted, “But the show has been great so far.”

Druckmann, 46, also explained that Abby’s physicality "doesn't play as big of a role in this version of the story because there's not as much violent action moment to moment. It's more about the drama. I'm not saying there's no action here. It's just, again, different priorities and how you approach it."

The first episode of the second season of The Last Of Us is available for streaming on MAX. New episodes premiere every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.
