KENNY Pickett is the newest quarterback in Cleveland, and he isn’t planning on spending his time there on the bench.
The former Pittsburgh Steelers first-round pick and Super Bowl winner with the Philadelphia Eagles is set to compete for the starting job with the Browns.

However, he played in two games for the Eagles late in the season and had impressive showings.
Pickett came into a game in relief of Hurts in Week 16 and then started Week 17 before getting hurt himself.
In those appearances he was 24-39 passing with 286 yards, three total touchdowns, and one interception.
It was good enough for the Browns to trade for him this offseason, and Pickett is planning on being the team’s starter this year.
“That’s the plan, man. I’m not going there to hang out,” he told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review’s Jerry DiPaola.
“I want to go play. I’m excited, been working hard for it, taking it a day at a time.”
Pickett does have some competition heading into the 2025 season though.
The Browns resigned veteran quarterback Joe Flacco after he played five games for them in 2023.
Flacco won Comeback Player of the Year with the Browns in 2023, but he is also 14 years older than Pickett.
“I’ve heard nothing but great things about Joe,” he said.
“I’ve been watching him since I was 10 years old. Total respect for Joe, what he’s done and I’m excited to get to work with him, too.”
The Browns are now the fourth team Pickett has been rostered on just during his rookie contract.
After being a highly-touted prospect, he will try to revive his career with the biggest rivals of the team that drafted him.
“I’m really excited just to get there and get back to competing, get back to playing,” Pickett said,
“Meeting new people, meeting my new teammates, building those relationships.”

The Browns are rebuilding their quarterback room while Deshaun Watson remains unavailable due to injury.
He tore his Achilles during the 2024 season and subsequently re-tore the tendon during his rehab.
It is expected that Watson will miss the entire 2025 season and likely won’t play for the Browns in the final season of his contract in 2026.
Pickett will most likely take over as a bridge quarterback if he wins the Browns’ starting job.
Cleveland isn’t projected to take a quarterback in this year’s draft, but it could be an option in 2026.
Pickett will do his best to discourage the Browns from drafting another quarterback by playing up to his potential this season.
