Although Blue Bloods ended its 14-season run in December 2024, star Wahlberg has signed on for a spinoff series titled Boston Blue (working title), which is set to premiere in the 2025-26 TV season.
According to Deadline, the script for Boston Blue started as a completely unrelated TV series called Jamaica Plain, named after a neighborhood in Boston. That series was meant to follow a law enforcement family in Boston whose eldest daughter (Peters) is partnered with a transfer from Los Angeles. Since finding a way to continue the Blue Bloods universe was a "priority" at CBS, executives thought they could turn Jamaica Plain into a spinoff, especially given Wahlberg's "deep ties" to Boston, the city where he grew up.
In the Blue Bloods series finale, Wahlberg's Danny finally asked his partner, Det. Maria Bae (Marisa Ramirez) out on a date, but there has not yet been any news about Ramirez appearing on the spinoff.
