Among Collins’ earliest sessions was a gig playing congas in 1970 on the George Harrison track “Art of Dying.”
A dozen years later, while he was already a huge star in his own right, he lent his talents to Adam Ant. The onetime punk rocker found success in the new romantic era by transforming himself into a flamboyant frontman who drew his fashion inspiration from pirates and American Indians, along with musical influences from the tribal drums of Burundi and ‘60s style surf guitars.
