MARK YOUR CALENDARS

As shoppers head to their nearest Publix to grab a bite of the new catfish meal deal, they should keep in mind that the Southeastern-based chain’s hours will be impacted by an upcoming retail blackout.

Publix, alongside a long list of other retailers, plans to shut its doors for 24 hours to celebrate an upcoming spring holiday.

The grocery chain will be closed on Easter Sunday, which falls on April 20 this year.

Publix also generally temporarily shuts down its roughly 1,400 stores on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Consumers can expect a handful of other grocers to be closed for business on Easter, including Costco, Target, Sam’s Club, and Aldi.

Retailers like Best Buy, JCPenney, Hobby Lobby, and Ace Hardware will likewise participate in the retail blackout.

However, shoppers can still engage in some Easter Sunday shopping at other stores.

For example, most Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Kroger, and Dollar Tree locations will be open on the spring holiday.

Consumers can take advantage of the latter chain’s Easter deals, including a viral holiday decoration on shelves for just $5 – it’s 45% cheaper than Hobby Lobby.

Plus, Dollar Tree shoppers are raving over “adorable” Easter basket essentials for just $1.25 – and it’s 87% cheaper than Walmart.
