Proton Wants to Enhance Privacy and Productivity Across Its Suite of Tools
In a significant step towards empowering users to take control of their digital lives, Proton has released its latest product roadmaps for Proton Mail, Proton VPN, Proton Drive, and Proton Pass. These updates outline innovative features set to roll out in the coming months, designed to bolster privacy protections, enhance productivity, and simplify user experiences across all platforms.
Proton VPN: split tunnelling is coming to MacOS and Linux so that people can exclude certain apps and websites from their VPN connection. We’ll also be adding Custom DNS to iPhone and Mac apps to enable people to add things like parental controls and advanced filtering, as well as Guest mode on iOS. NetShield Adblocker will also start detecting and blocking phishing attacks. This is alongside continued improvements, speed optimisations, and more powerful anti-censorship capabilities. Proton Mail & Calendar: we’re boosting productivity by adding Category view to quickly sort emails; enabling people to more easily track and manage subscriptions, and to unsubscribe from them. We’re also building new Proton Mail apps for iOS and Android, improving Proton Calendar (particularly the iOS app), and adding new solutions for businesses. Proton Drive: as photos are some of the most sensitive data people have, Albums, will make it easy to securely store, organise and share photos. We’ll also be improving backups and syncing on the new macOS app, as well as more productivity features for Docs – with a new Docs home screen, comment-only access and new formatting options. Proton Pass: people will be able to save relevant documents, spreadsheets and even videos to any item in their Proton Pass vault with file attachments. Elsewhere, users will be able to grant a family member emergency access to their account. We’ll also be adding support for custom items, and credit card autofill. This is alongside improvements to Proton Pass for Business with the Pass Monitor report, usage reports, as well as Group sharing. For more detailed insights on these exciting developments, please visit our blog post outlining individual product roadmaps.
