The One Day at a Time alum admitted to a vulnerable time in her life while chatting with Drew Barrymore on her eponymous talk show this week, revealing that her former co-star, Bonnie Franklin, once got involved to get her the help she needed.
The pair discussed a recent plea from Ariana Grande to have studios and record labels bake a therapy clause into their contracts for young stars. "She argues that mental health support should be a non-negotiable part of the deal," Barrymore explained, "to ensure that emerging talents have the resources they need to navigate the pressures of fame."

The more seasoned actress, who died in 2013, sent her television daughter "to a psychiatrist." While Bertinelli didn't dig too deeply about her state of mind at the time, it was clear that Franklin's aid was both necessary and well-received.
Bertinelli joined the sitcom, which ran from 1975 to 1984, when she was just 15 years old. She recently opened up about the impact of losing her former co-stars, too, acknowledging how "lucky" she was to have worked with many greats while also admitting that looking back on her time with those who have died "always kind of breaks your heart."
