Ventura County Fire ambulances now Carry Blood for Transfusions ...Middle East

VENTURA COUNTY, CA - Ventura County Fire rescue ambulances are now carrying whole blood to save lives.

Ventura Fire officials say less than 2 percent of EMS agencies in the entire country have blood transfusion programs. By carrying whole blood, firefighter paramedics can stabilize injured or sick patients before arriving at a hospital.

Paramedics had to undergo special training for the new program.
