“We receive no federal funding,” said Executive Director Nicole Kim. “Aside from a small tuition reimbursement from the California Regional Centers, our only source of revenue is donations and grants, so we rely heavily on the generosity of our supporters to be able to continue our programs.”

The Golf Classic and the school’s golf team began in 2012 after a student proposed forming the team. A student from the school is a member of every foursome in the event.

“We love to connect our students with the community in ways that typically are not associated with adults with disabilities,” Kim said.

New name for Water Authority

The West Valley Clean Water Authority has been renamed to better reflect its purpose.

The redubbed West Valley Stormwater Authority said in a release that the new name is better aligned with its focus on stormwater pollution prevention and reduces confusion between the authority and other drinking water agencies.

“This new name better reflects our role in managing stormwater and preventing pollution in local waterways,” said Authority Board Chair Dan Furtado. “It also clarifies that we do not manage drinking water, but rather work to keep pollutants out of stormwater through community education, monitoring, enforcement.”

The agency is in charge of protecting local creeks, habitats and public health by managing stormwater runoff and reducing pollution in Los Gatos, Saratoga, Campbell and Monte Sereno.
