The first Major of the season starts on Thursday as all the big guns line up for the 89th edition of the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club.
A 7,555-yard par-72 track, Augusta is one of the most famous venues in the sporting world and the only course which hosts a men’s Major championship each year.
Power off the tee is an advantage, but it’s not as essential as accurate iron play, which will help to set up birdie opportunities on the large, undulating greens.
Scottie Scheffler, world No.1 and the defending champion this week, is the favourite in his bid to become the first player since Tiger Woods in 2002 to win back-to-back Masters, while Rory McIlroy also takes high rank in the betting as he bids to complete the career Grand Slam.

The Masters betting tips
Collin Morikawa to win & each-way @ 16/1 Justin Thomas to win & each-way @ 25/1 Patrick Reed to win & each-way @ 70/1Morikawa can find his Major mojo again
While it will come as a shock if at least one of the top two in the market are not involved in the finale on Sunday, there are others who will have designs on getting their hands on the Green Jacket, starting with Collin Morikawa.
The Californian, already a winner of the US PGA Championship and The Open, has found it tough to get over the winning line on the PGA Tour of late, but he’s been striking his irons superbly – better than anyone else on the Tour this season.
Morikawa is not as long off the tee as some of his market rivals, but his iron play tends to make up for that and he’s shown he can contend at Augusta, finishing fifth, tenth and third in the last three editions of the Masters.
A two-time PGA Tour runner-up this year, he could go one better on the biggest stage of all.
Thomas has all the tools to tame Augusta
Given the quality of his approach play and touch around the greens, Justin Thomas has long looked capable of winning the Masters, and this could be the week he gets his hands on the Green Jacket.
Thomas’s form has been up and down over the last couple of years, contributing to missed cuts at the last two Masters, but he has also finished in the top ten twice in the last five years and has found some consistency over the last few months.
While he was denied by Viktor Hovland at the Valspar Championship last time, Thomas was superb for much of the weekend in Florida. All areas of his game are firing ahead of this latest Masters tilt.
Don’t rule out Reed at scene of greatest win
Patrick Reed’s most famous victory came in the 2018 Masters and the Texan is playing well enough to at least threaten a repeat success.
Reed, who primarily plies his trade on the LIV Golf circuit, has Masters form figures of 10-8-35-4-12 over the last five seasons, underlining how comfortable he is at one of the most testing venues in golf.
The 34-year-old is capable of producing magic around the greens and he returns to Augusta in solid form, having finished runner-up in an Asian Tour event last month, then seventh in LIV Miami on Sunday.
