Hundreds are expected to don their best costumes to embrace the thrill of the chill Saturday at Windsor Lake for the annual Polar Plunge.

Proceeds from the event will go to Special Olympics Colorado, benefitting more than 28,000 child and adult athletes with intellectual disabilities.

“Costumes are strongly encouraged — go big or go home,” the site read. “Bring you’re energy, smiles and a towel.”

As of late Sunday morning, the event had raised $41,546 of its $165,000 goal.

The day will begin at 8 a.m., at 100 N. 5th St., with day-of registration available, according to the event page. To register ahead of time or to donate, go to that page at p2p.onecause.com/2025windsorplunge.

A 5K run/walk will start at 9 a.m., and the first plungers are slated to hit the water at 10 a.m.

For day-of registration, it is a $80 minimum donation to make the plunge and $45 to register for the 5K, according to the site. Plungers will receive a long sleeve shirt and 5K participants will receive gloves, according to the event page.

After the plunge, participants are invited to an After Splash Bash at Pecuilar Ales Brewery, 301 Main St.
