2025 Kona Senior Spring Invitational
March 26-29 Kailua Kona, HI SCY (25 yards) ResultsThe saying goes that there is a first time for everything, and that was the case recently at the inaugural Kona Senior Spring Invitational in Hawaii. The event was such a success that plans are already in the works for next year’s event.
On the boys’ side of the meet, the high-point getter was Dylan Fisk, a class of 2026 swimmer with the Bellingham Bay Swim Team.
Fisk swam personal bests to win the 500 free (4:25.67), 200 fly (1:47.48) and 1000 free (9:18.67), and he won the 200 free (1:39.36). He also finished second in the 1650 free (15:39.13), 100 fly (personal best 49.23), 200 IM (personal best 1:52.04) and 400 IM (3:57.14).
Among 16-year-old boys this season, Fisk now has the 13th-fastest time in the 200 fly and the 15th-fastest in the 500 free.
The top point-getter in the girls’ competition was Sophia Oka-Fedder, a class of 2026 swimmer who has committed to Northwestern. Oka-Fedder (unattached) swam personal bests to win the 50 free (23.47), 100 free (50.85), 200 free (1:49.33), 200 breast (2:17.14), and 200 IM (2:02.19). She also won the 400 IM (4:24.97) and was second in the 500 free (4:59.65), 200 back (personal best 2:04.06) and 100 breast (1:04.95).
Fisk helped Bellingham Bay win the boys’ team title, while Tualatin Hills Swim Club won the combined and girls’ titles.
Other individual standouts were:
Kjell Cady, a class of 2025 swimmer from the South Snohomish Co. Dolphins, won the 1650 free (15:18..04), 200 back (1:47.40) and 400 IM (3:54.21) in personal best times. He also swam a personal best time of 4:25.73 to take second in the 500 free. Luca Ignatescu of Tualatin Hills, who is in the class of 2026, won the 100 breast (personal best 2:03.32) and the 200 IM (1:49.77). He also swam personal bests to finish second in both the 200 free (1:39.99) and 200 fly (1:47.78). Grace Sorensen of Bellingham Bay Swim Team, a member of the class of 2026 who has committed to Rutgers, won the 500 free (personal best 4:56.87), 200 fly (2:02.65) and 100 IM (personal best 57.82). She was also second in the 200 IM (2:08.42) and the 200 free (personal best 1:50.88). Kaitlyn Latendresse of King Aquatic Club, who is in the class of 2026, won the 1000 free (10:28.93), 100 back (57.39) and 200 back (personal best 2:02.03).
