The transfer portal is not yet open for entry, but players are starting to make decisions. A South Carolina edge defender has reportedly already decided to put his name in the portal.

Gregory, listed at 6-3 and 245 pounds, on the South Carolina roster, is a redshirt freshman entering the 2025 season. He made appearances for the Gamecocks against Akron and Wofford in 2024. By appearing in only 2 regular-season games, Gregory is allowed to take a redshirt and extend his eligibility to a fifth season.
Gregory hails from Marietta, Georgia. Out of Walton High School, he was rated 4-stars, the No. 16 edge defender, No. 22 player in the state of Georgia and No. 179 prospect overall in the Class of 2024 on the 247Sports Composite.
In his original recruitment, Gregory picked up 20 scholarship offers. In addition to South Carolina, he also received interest from Arkansas, Michigan, Auburn, Nebraska, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Tennessee, USC and Vanderbilt.
The transfer portal will be open for undergraduate entry from April 16-25. We’ll see what’s next for Gregory.
