The 16 seeds for the World Snooker Championship have been revealed with Ronnie O’Sullivan confirmed at no.4.
Those 16 players will head directly to the last-32 at The Crucible with the other 128 entrants battling it out in the qualifying rounds for the remaining 16 unseeded places.
O’Sullivan will head into the World Championship as the fourth seedGettySpare a thought for the man in 17th place, Gary Wilson, who just missed out on direct entry to the biggest tournament in the snooker calendar.
Last year’s finalist Jak Jones takes the 16th spot thanks to the mere £5,900 in prize money between them.
However, there is still a chance for Wilson to avoid going through the qualifying battle.
Seven-time champion O’Sullivan has withdrawn from a number of tournaments in the lead up to The Crucible, with little-to-no explanation given.
As it stands, though, Wilson will have to go through two rounds of qualifying to secure his place in the main draw.
By his own admission, the 39-year-old is having a tough time on the baize and has even tried his hand at pool after some early tournament exits.
Wilson told The Sun: “I never play pool. Only whenever a tournament comes around, I might get a game in beforehand.
“It does mess with the snooker. It’s two different sports. It’s like a table tennis player playing tennis.
“You can’t really play the two of them at the same time. Not if you want to compete at the top level of either.
“It might be a hobby that I dip into. The only way I’ll reverse that – and play more pool – is if I’m even more dreadful than I already am at the moment and slip down the rankings.
Wilson could still sneak into the 16 seedsGetty“Or if I cannot make any money from snooker.
“That would be the only point I retire from snooker and might dip into a bit of pool.
“Any form of pool is more frustrating than snooker in some ways. Because there’s a lot of luck involved.
“Everybody can play to an extent. It’s generally an easier game to play than snooker.
“Everybody on the Nineball Tour is very friendly. It’s a different atmosphere to snooker.
“The odd character in pool might think, ‘here’s a snooker player coming in, thinking snooker is much harder than pool, we’ll show him it’s just as hard’.

“I have the utmost respect for the guys at the top of any of the pool disciplines.”
Defending champion Kyren Wilson will be the no.1 seed at the World Championship, which begins on April 19.
Judd Trump is at no.2 while Mark Selby, O’Sullivan and Mark Williams round out the top five.
Shaun Murphy also scrapes into the seeded places at no.15.
