The San Diego Zoo has announced the results of a poll it held last month to name two sloth bear cubs that were born last December.
The poll, launched on March 25, allowed voters to choose between three names selected by wildlife care staff for each of the cubs.
For the female cub, voters selected Shehani, which means magic, shining, and regal. For the male cub, voters selected Kumar, which means prince.
Shehani and Kumar can now be seen with their mother, Shala, in their habitat along the zoo’s Upper Center Street.
The San Diego Zoo periodically holds public polls to decide on names for animals born in their care.
