Dallas Cowboys offer Micah Parsons biggest non-QB deal in NFL history – but still set to be less than Dak Prescott ...0

THE Dallas Cowboys have reportedly given a historic contract to star pass rusher Micah Parsons, but it won’t exceed quarterback Dak Prescott’s deal.

The four-time NFL Pro Bowl edge rusher has just one year left on his rookie contract and currently seeks a long-term extension with the Cowboys.

It was reported on Tuesday by All City DLLS’s Clarence Hill that the Cowboys have offered Micah Parsons the highest-paid non-quarterback contract in NFL history.

The report added that Parsons and Jones agreed to the deal, which would be worth more than the recent contracts penned by Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.

That would mean Parsons’s average annual value would be higher than Garrett’s average annual average of $40 million, most for an NFL defender, and Chase’s highest-paid non-quarterback annual average number of $40.25.

However, Prescott would still make more than Parsons thanks to his four-year, $240 million deal he penned last September, which is the highest average annual value ($60 million) in the league.

Hill reported that the Cowboys, however, didn’t include Parsons’ agent in the contract discussions – and he won’t agree to the deal without David Mulugheta’s approval.

Hours after the report, the former first-round pick Parsons took issue with Jones telling reporters that he didn’t know the NFL star’s agent’s name.

“The agent is not a concern here … I don’t know his name,” Jones said on Tuesday, per Hill.

Parsons then responded to Jones’s comments on X and shared that there would not be a back-alley deal that didn’t include his agent in the contract process.

“Facts!! David is the best and I will not be doing any deal without David Mulugheta involved!” Parsons posted.

“Like anyone with good sense I hired experts for a reason.

“There is no one I trust more when it comes to negotiating contracts than David! There will be no backdoors in this contract negotiation.”

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones defended the team’s approach to talk directly with players in contract discussions.

The franchise had previously had in-person talks with Tony Romo, DeMarcus Lawrence, Jason Witten and Zack Martin without the players’ agent.

Nonetheless, Parsons is expected to receive a contract that eclipses Garrett’s deal, which included $123 million in guaranteed money over four years.

The Cowboys aren’t exactly in an ideal salary cap situation.

They have just $39 million in cap space entering next season, per Over The Cap.

It’s expected that Parsons’ extension will take up plenty of the cap space.

The Cowboys are coming off a 7-10 season in which they missed the playoffs and let go of veteran head coach Mike McCarthy.

They hired former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to be their next head coach in January.
