The Willits Center for the Arts invites the public to an engaging discussion on the life and work of Diego Velázquez, one of the most influential painters of the Spanish Golden Age. This special Art Talk will take place on Friday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Willits Center for the Arts, located at 71 E. Commercial St.
Diego Velázquez (1599–1660) is renowned for his masterful portraits, historical and mythological subjects, and his remarkable ability to capture realism and depth. As the court painter to King Philip IV of Spain, Velázquez created some of the most iconic works of Baroque art, including Las Meninas and The Surrender of Breda. His innovative approach to light, composition, and perspective continues to inspire artists and scholars today.
This presentation is part of the ongoing Art Talks series, which brings insightful discussions on art history to the Willits community.
This event is free and open to the public. Art lovers, students, and anyone with an interest in history and painting are encouraged to attend.
