Dayspring Christian 11, Briggsdale 1, 5 inn., in Greeley: Dayspring Christian took full advantage of its opportunities, out-hitting Briggsdale 3-1 in this nonleague game. Eagles senior Josiah Rodriguez led the way, hitting 1 for 3 with two RBI, two runs and a double. Dayspring junior Jackson Polk pitched all five innings, allowing one earned run on one hit, striking out 10 and walking one. Junior Scot Francis had Briggsdale’s only hit. The Eagles improved to 5-1 and won their fourth consecutive game. The Falcons fell to 1-2.

Severance goes 2-0, in Fountain: Severance picked up a pair of wins in Fountain-Fort Carson’s home tournament, defeating Sand Creek 7-6 and Widefield 9-8. Dom Rice went 2 for 3 with three RBI and a home run against Sand Creek. Domanick Estrella-Torres went 2 for 3 with five RBI, a double and a triple against Widefield. The Silver Knights improved to 4-4 overall.

Roosevelt 8, Mountain View 2, in Loveland: Roosevelt led throughout this conference game, going up 3-0 through three innings before tacking on five runs to go up 8-1 in the bottom of the fifth. The Rough Riders out-hit Mountain View 10-5. Roosevelt junior Israel Castillo and Brady Mylander each had two RBI on 1-for-3 hitting. Castillo had a triple and two runs. The Rough Riders’ pitching duo of Mylander and sophomore Jack Sansone combined to allow two earned runs on five hits, striking out eight and walking one. Roosevelt improved to 4-1 overall, 3-0 in Class 4A/3A Longs Peak play.

Platte Valley 10, Estes Park 2, in Kersey: Platte Valley got off to a red-hot start, going up 6-0 in the first inning. Broncos sophomore Shawn Rothe and freshman Cooper Moffatt each had a hit, a run and two RBI. Senior Hudson Flummerfelt hit 3 for 4 with two runs. Senior Dagan Gomez pitched six innings for Platte Valley, allowing one unearned run on seven hits, striking out four and walking two. The Broncos improved to 4-2.

Prairie wins two, in New Raymer: Prairie won both games of a league doubleheader against Weldon Valley, 15-0 and 25-3. The Mustangs out-hit the Warriors 9-0 in Game 1. They out-hit Weldon Valley 18-0 in Game 2. Prairie improved to 2-2 overall, 2-0 in 1A District 5 play.

Golden 2, Eaton 1, in Golden: Eaton’s state record 74-game win streak came to an end, as the Reds suffered their first loss since May 6, 2022. All three runs of this pitchers’ duel came in the seventh inning. Senior Cooper Nider drove in Eaton’s sole run. Junior Liam Whalen had two of the Reds’ four hits. Junior Gunnar Garrison pitched six innings for Eaton, allowing no runs on three hits, striking out eight and walking five. The Reds fell to 5-1 on the season. Golden (5-2) is ranked fifth in 4A by CHSAA’s Seeding Index. Eaton is ranked ninth in 3A.

Weld Central goes 1-1, in Gypsum: Weld Central picked up a 14-9 win against Eagle Valley but struggled to a 9-1 loss to that same team during the second half of a nonleague doubleheader. Seniors Marcello Rossi and Ross Phelps each had three RBI, three hits and a double in Game 1. Rossi also had a home run. Freshman Andruw Prince drove in the Rebels’ only run in Game 2. Weld Central moved its record to 4-5.

Girls soccer

Greeley Central 0, Greeley West 0, at District 6 Stadium: Neither team was able to crack the other’s defense in this annual battle between longtime crosstown rivals. Greeley Central moved its record to 2-3-1 overall, while Greeley West now sits at 3-2-2.

Roosevelt 3, Fort Morgan 3, in Johnstown: Roosevelt fell just short of snapping a three-match losing streak. The Rough Riders led 3-0 at halftime before surrendering three unanswered goals in the second half. Freshman Addalynn Burbridge led Roosevelt with two goals. Fellow Rough Riders freshman Taya Armstrong had 10 saves in goal. Roosevelt moved its record to 1-3-1 overall.

Boys swimming diving

Greeley West wins Wiedeman: Greeley West scored 417 points to place first out of three teams during the Keith Wiedeman Invitational in the Greeley Recreation Center. Liberty Common was second (241), while Valley placed third (80). The Spartans recorded first-place finishes in nine out of 12 events. Micah Yamada had a pair of first-place individual performances for West, placing first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.08) and the 200 freestyle (2:01.63). His Spartans teammate Kern Chahal was first in the 100 backstroke (1:03.55) and the 200 individual medley (2:23.87).

Girls tennis

Greeley West places high, in Aurora: Greeley West scored 14 points to place second in the nine-team double-elimination Amy Howe Invitational, hosted by Smoky Hill. Lutheran was first with 16 points. Among the standouts, Spartans junior Danae Rowe defeated Lutheran freshman Elle Philson 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles finals. Greeley West senior Sophie Dhupar won her bracket in No. 3 singles.

Resurrection Christian 6, Berthoud 1, in Loveland: Resurrection Christian won all three singles matches and three of four doubles matches to comfortably secure this dual. Cougars freshman No. 1 singles player Kylee Mayes and senior No. 2 singles player Isabella Prohs each picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins. Resurrection Christian improved to 2-1 overall.

Boys volleyball

Stargate School 3, Fort Lupton 0, in Thornton: Fort Lupton suffered its seventh consecutive loss, falling to 1-7 overall, 1-3 in 4A Northern Conference play. Stargate prevailed 25-17, 25-11, 25-18. Senior Sebastian Gallegos led the Bluedevils with 15 kills, an ace, a block and seven digs.

Baseball

Severance wins two more, in Fountain: Severance closed its perfect, 4-0 campaign in Fountain-Fort Carson’s home tournament with a 3-2 win against Mesa Ridge and a 9-4 victory against Fountain-Fort Carson. Dom Rice, Auggie Dominguez and Declan Moylett each drove in a run against Mesa Ridge. Domanick Estrella-Torres and Karson Panas each drove in a pair of runs against host Fountain-Fort Carson. The Silver Knights improved to 6-4 overall.

Weld Central goes 2-0, in Parachute: Weld Central’s offense was firing on all cylinders, as the Rebels swept a nonleague doubleheader against Grand Valley, 10-0 and 21-11. Seniors Marcello Rossi and Ross Phelps each had two RBI in Game 1. Junior Lucas Johann pitched all seven innings for Weld Central. He allowed no runs on three hits, striking out 11 and walking three. Rossi went 4 for 5 with five RBI and a run in Game 2.  The Rebels improved to 6-5 overall.

Falcon 8, Windsor 7, in Falcon: Windsor saw its four-game win streak came to an end as a result of this tightly contested nonconference loss. The Wizards led 7-1 through four innings before Falcon rallied with two runs in the bottom of the sixth and five more in the seventh. Junior Chris Valerio and senior Izaak Haro each had two hits for Windsor. Haro had a RBI and a double. The Wizards dropped to 6-2 overall.

Girls soccer

Eagle Ridge Academy 5, Weld Central 0, in Keenesburg: Weld Central couldn’t get into any kind of rhythm offensively, as it suffered its fourth consecutive loss and fell to 2-5 overall. Eagle Ridge led just 1-0 at halftime before tacking on four more goals in the second half. Despite the loss, Rebels junior goalkeeper Abigail Hamblin had 14 saves.

Track and field

Greeley West hosts meet, in Greeley: Greeley West played host to 26 other schools during the Blue and Gold Invitational at the University of Northern Colorado’s Nottingham Field. Resurrection Christian senior Joy Koole won the girls 1,600-meter run in 5:20.89. The Cougars team of Brooke Applebee, Kylee Kramer, Addison Edwards and Maggie Komberec won the girls 800 sprint medley in 2:04.43.

Resurrection Christian senior Addison Barker was first in pole vault with a height of 11′ 7″. Cougars sophomore Tatum Vanpelt won girls triple jump (33′ 7.75″). Cougars senior Jackson Fagerlin won the boys 1,600 in 4:18.36. Resurrection Christian’s team of Jackson Fagerlin, Lincoln Fagerlin, Trevor Lim and Jonah Morris won the boys 3,200 relay in 8:24.81.

Cougars junior Mwanje Peterson won boys triple jump (42′ 2.25″).

University, Eaton place first, in Greeley: University placed first (92.5) in the boys meet and was second (93) in the girls portion of the University Bulldog Invitational at Tom Roche Field. Eaton’s girls were first (105), while its boys placed fifth (46.5). Frontier Academy’s boys were third (52), while its girls tied for 17th (12). Dayspring Christian was fourth (50) in the boys meet and 13th (19) in the girls meet.

Valley’s girls tied for 15th (15), while its boys were 21st (6). Briggsdale’s girls were 21st (5). Highland tied for 18th (7) in the boys standings and was 23rd (3) in the girls standings.

University junior Jordan Halley won the girls 100 in 12.77 seconds and also won girls long jump (17′ 9.5″). Eaton sophomore Delaney Reuter was first in the girls 800 (2:17.97) and in the 1,600 (5:00.36). University senior Ava Dominguez won the girls 100 hurdles (16.59) and the 300 hurdles (48.19).

Eaton’s team of sophomore Lyla Kammerer, sophomore Siri Rasmussen, senior Mckenzie Powell and sophomore Skyelyn Lefever won the girls 800 relay in 1:50.54. Valley senior Brianna Orona Aguilar was first in girls high jump (4′ 10″).

University senior Cadence Schedlbauer won girls pole vault (9′ 2″). Eaton senior Brody Niswender won the boys 400 (50.05). Frontier Academy junior Matthew Hayden won the boys 1,600 (4:34.27). Dayspring Christian junior Elijah Martin won the boys 300 hurdles (41.34).

University’s quartet of sophomore Sullivan Gesso, sophomore Ethan Baker, senior Bertram Harvey and senior Nicholas Rothe won the boys 400 relay (44.49). That same team won the boys 800 relay (1:33.47).

Frontier Academy’s team of freshman Adam Henrichsen, freshman Camden Sutton, senior Kalid Fanning and Hayden won the boys 3,200 relay (8:28.52). Wolverines senior Amir McDonald won boys high jump (6′). Eaton senior Ryan Martinez won boys long jump (18′ 9″).

Dayspring Christian junior Cameron Gomez won boys discus (104′ 7″). The Eagles team of senior Will Nugent, freshman Gracie Gilmore, sophomore Owen Crust and senior Lexa Jackson won the mixed 1,600 relay (3:59.39).

Windsor, Severance compete, in Niwot: Windsor’s girls tied for eighth (22), and its boys tied for 10th (14) during the Niwot Invitational. Severance tied for 27th (2) in the girls standings and was also 27th (5) in the boys standings. Windsor’s team of junior Kiana Cumings, senior Lindsey Hinson, junior Maya Brasch and senior Caidin Steele was first (1:40.17) in the girls 800 relay.
