The city of Evans hopes to have its newest park completed by the end of August after approving a contract to turn an empty field at 29th Avenue and Park View Drive into Hunter’s Reserve Park.
The new park is slated to include a walking trail, playground structure, natural play area, picnic shelter, benches, trees and a large open lawn space, according to a city news release.
The city said roughly half of the open field will be developed into the park, while the other half will continue to serve as a retention pond for Evans’ stormwater infrastructure. Construction is expected to begin in May.
“Evans is so excited for this latest addition to our expanding parks offerings,” the release read. “It will provide more outdoor space where our community can celebrate and enjoy their shared American heritage.”
Using reserves of the Park Impact Fund, the city said the new park was designed and will be built without using any money from the city’s general fund.
