"Michelle's family and boyfriend Jay [Cohen] have gone silent on her closest friends. They won't get back to anyone despite many attempts," the insider says. "None of them were aware of a funeral or memorial for their friend, and they're upset they couldn't say goodbye properly."
The source adds: "Her closest friends are talking about doing something to memorialize her around her birthday in October because she was so looking forward to that. Nothing's planned yet, but conversations are starting to happen."
Trachtenberg was found dead at her New York City apartment on Feb. 26. Though police confirmed that they do not suspect foul play, a cause of death was undetermined. The actress' family declined an autopsy.
In addition to her early roles, Trachtenberg found success in the 2000s after she was cast as Dawn Summers on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, on which she starred from 2000 to 2003.
