Earlier this month, the “Australian in the US” took to the social media platform with a video of “mental behaviour in the house tonight” that showed the unnamed boyfriend’s tactic for doing laundry.

At the start of the video, he could be seen smiling at the camera as the words “Help?? I just asked my bf where the cap for the detergent is and he said ‘Oh I just fill it up and throw it in?’”
“He’s so convinced this is normal that he’s looking for ‘where it says it on the box,’” the text then read as the video showed him intensely scanning the back of a bottle of Gain laundry detergent.
“Yes this is normal,” said one commenter, and others agreed, writing, “Yes and then it doesn’t get sticky,” with more explaining that they do this to avoid getting detergent residue on the cap.
“There’s no way this comment section is real. Do you people also bake your measuring cups inside your bread,” read one comment, with many declaring that this was gaslighting and stating that “this comment section has me questioning if I’m the one doing it wrong.”
