McEntire spoke with Kelly Sutton at Opry 100: A Live Celebration on March 19, telling her about the eventful night almost 50 years ago.
"I walked in and they said, 'We're going to cut you back to one song, because Dolly just rolled into the parking lot and we're gonna give her one of your songs,'" McEntire recalled of the experience, explaining how the staff at The Grand Ole Opry approached her with a last-minute change of plans.
McEntire then shared a bold statement about Parton and what she thought when she saw her that night, saying, "She's the most beautiful lady I've ever seen in my life, like an angel. She still is."
Sutton added her own thoughts on Parton, declaring, "She smells good too," to which McEntire energetically agreed, "Oh, she always smells good."
