By making his international debut at the age of 62 years and 145 days, Brownlee broke the previous record set by Osman Goker, who played his first international match for Turkey at 59 years and 181 days against Romania in August 2019.

India’s Rustomji Jamshedji among those history-makers

Pakistan’s Miran Bakhsh and India’s Rustomji Jamshedji were also among the oldest players to make their debuts in international cricket after 60 years. However, Brownlee’s main role in the team is to help the Falkland Islands to develop their players, especially bowlers, while being around them.

IML provides platform for retired cricketers to relive their playing days

Last month, India’s oldest Test cricketer, Dattajirao Gaekwad, passed away in Vadodara at the age of 95 due to age-related health issues. Gaekwad, who was the former Indian captain, was in the ICU for almost two weeks before breathing his last.

He played 11 Test matches for India between 1952 and 1961 and had the honor of captaining the team during the 1959 tour of England. Gaekwad also amassed 3,139 runs at an impressive average of 47.56, scoring 14 centuries in the Ranji Trophy. In 2016, Gaekwad became India’s oldest living Test cricketer following the passing of Deepak Shodhan, who was 87 at the time.
