2025 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championship

The final day of the 2025 NCAA Division II Championships is here. We have a fairly light morning for the last prelims session of the meet, featuring the 100 free, 200 back, and 200 breast.

Drury freshman Jonette Lagreid will be racing in the women’s 200 breast today after setting the Division II record in the event earlier this season. Lagreid comes in as the top seed by more than 2 seconds with her record time of 2:08.86.

Similarly, Colorado Mesa junior Agata Naskret broke the women’s 200 back at her conference championship meet last month. Naskret enters with her mark of 1:53.97, making her the top seed by more than 2 seconds.

Lynn 5th year Luna Mertins holds a season best of 48.33 in the women’s 100 free, which puts her just off the DII record of 48.16. She leads the field coming into the meet by half a second.

U Indy freshman Jeremias Pock also has us on record watch in the men’s 200 breast. Pock has already been 1:52.08 this season, which not only makes him the top seed coming into this morning by over 2 seconds, but puts him within half a second of the DII record of 1:51.71, which has stood since 2015.

WOMEN’S 100 FREESTYLE – PRELIMS

TOP 8 QUALIFIERS:

Luna Mertins (Lynn) – 48.95 Bryn Greenwaldt (Augustana) – 49.03 Kristina Orban (Nova Southeastern) – 49.25 Kiara Pozvai (Henderson State) – 49.54 Zsofia Kurdi (Nova Southeastern) – 49.69 Montana White (Azusa Pacific) – 49.70 Lucy Hedley (Grand Valley) – 49.77 Abigail Williams (Simon Fraser) – 49.81

Luna Mertins led the field in the women’s 100 free this morning with a 48.95, touching as the only swimmer in the field under 49 seconds. Mertins has already been 48.33 this season, which puts her just 0.17 seconds off the DII record in the event.

Augustana’s Bryn Greenwaldt had a huge swim this morning, clocking a 49.03 for 2nd. Greenwaldt entered the meet with a season best of 50.51, so she took 1.48 seconds off her time this morning. Of course, Greenwaldt made waves earlier in the meet when she broke the DII record in the 50 free, becoming the first Division II swimmer to break 22 seconds in the event. Given her prowess in the 50, Greenwaldt will demand respect tonight in finals of the 100.

Nova Southeastern’s Kristina Orban, a freshman, came in 3rd this morning with a 49.25. Orban is the only swimmer in the field other than Mertins to have gone under 49 seconds this season, holding a season best of 48.86.

MEN’S 100 FREESTYLE – PRELIMS

Matthew Bosch (Grand Valley) – 42.49 Leo Nolles (Northern Michigan) – 42.97 Yassine Sebbata (Wingate) – 43.03 Evan Scotto Divetta (Grand Valley) – 43.04 Volodymyr Gavrysh (McKendree) – 43.06 Maksymilian Minichowski (Catawba) – 43.07 Gavin Lindley (Nova Southeastern) – 43.18 Maurice Grabowski (Lynn) – 43.19

Grand Valley’s Matthew Bosch took half a second off his season best this morning, leading the field with a 42.49. Bosch was the only swimmers in the field this morning to go under 22 seconds on the 2nd 50, coming home in 21.94.

Northern Michigan’s Leo Nolles was also under 43 seconds this morning, swimming a 42.97 for 2nd. Nolles has been as fast as 42.72 this season. Interestingly enough, Bosch and Nolles had the same opening 50 split this morning, both getting out to a 20.55 on the first 50.

Wingate freshman Yassine Sebbata made a statement swim this morning, clocking a 43.03 for 3rd. He took nearly half a second off his season best of 43.49.

Grand Valley saw a 2nd swimmer make it into the ‘A’ final, with Evan Scotto Divetta swimming a 43.04 for 4th. He blew away his season best of 43.70 with the swim.

WOMEN’S 200 BACKSTROKE – PRELIMS

NCAA DII Record: 1:53.97 – Agata Naskret, Colorado Mesa (2025) Meet Record: 1:54.48 – Hannah Peiffer, Queens (NC) (2017)

TOP 8 QUALIFIERS:

Agata Naskret (Colorado Mesa) – 1:56.63 Tammy Greenwood (Oklahoma Christian) – 1:56.92 Katerina Matoskova (Colorado Mesa) – 1:57.71 Sidni Meister (Tampa) – 1:57.90 Mia Krstevska (U Indy) – 1:58.06 Sierra Gillan (Tampa) – 1:58.28 May Lowy (Nova Southeastern) – 1:58.33 Maria Fe Munoz (Drury) – 1:58.37

Colorado Mesa’s Agata Naskret clocked a 1:56.63 to lead the field in the women’s 200 back this morning. Naskret has been much faster, holding a season best of 1:53.97, which is the Division II record int he event. Morevoer, Naskret broke the DII record in the 100 back last night in finals with a 51.52 after swimming a 52.97 in prelims, so we can expect a much faster swim out of her tonight.

Tammy Greenwood also went 1:56 this morning, swimming a 1:56.92 for 2nd. Greenwood has been as fast as 1:56.29 in the event this season.

Tampa sophomore Sidni Meister had a big swim this morning, blowing away her season best of 2:00.18 with a 1:57.90, which was good for 4th.
