2025 Speedo Sectionals – Columbia, Missouri

March 13-16, 2025 Mizzou Aquatic Center – Columbia, MO SCY (25 yards), Prelims/Finals Results on Meet Mobile: “Region VIII Speedo Spring Sectionals” Day 1 Recap

The 2025 Columbia Sectionals continued with another series of impressive performances on day 2.

Alyssa Albertyn of Seahawks Swim Club kicked off the competition Friday night with a narrow win in the 200 free. The ASU commit touched in 1:48.18, just ahead of runner-up Helena Tietjen (1:48.46), and shaved .47 off of her lifetime best. The victory marked Albertyn’s 3rd gold of the meet, after prevailing in the 50 free and 200 free relay.

Also turning in a noteworthy performance in the 200 free was Razorback Aquatics’ Alexa D’Amico, who won the B-final in 1:48.85. That time would have placed 3rd overall and marked a huge lifetime best for the 13-year-old; D’Amico knocked exactly 4 seconds off of her previous personal best (1:52.85) that she set not even a month ago at the RMP Law Presidential Invite.

Springfield Aquatics’ Emma Belk took home the championship title in the 100 fly, posting a personal best time of 52.93 to mark her first time under 53. Belk won by almost two seconds, racing into the wall ahead of Lucy Velte (54.72), and her performance tied her at #27 on the ranking of top times this season in the 17-18 age group.

On the boys side, Club North’s Zach Mendez shone in the 200 free. He threw down a time of 1:35.15 in prelims, shaving 1.67 off of his lifetime best, before following it up in finals with a time of 1:35.65 to hold onto his #1 spot. The 17-year-old has made tremendous progress over the past season, as only a year ago Mendez’s best time was 1:40.81.

The runner-up behind Mendez was JD Thumann, who also posted a significant personal best time of 1:38.41, dropping over 3 seconds from his previous best. Thumann went on to win the very next event, prevailing in the 100 fly in 47.35. That performance marked another lifetime best by about half a second for the Cal Berkeley commit.

Tsunami Swim Team’s Alec Enyeart has been on top of his game so far. Coming off of competing at the Pro Swim Series in Westmont just last weekend, Enyeart picked up his 3rd win at the Columbia Sectionals in the 400 IM. He took home the title in 3:46.49, almost 5.5 seconds ahead of runner-up Andrew Baklanov.
