Babar Azam was recently dropped from the Pakistan's T20I Team. The premier batter, along with other senior players, didn't get selected in the squad for the New Zealand series as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to move on from them and give opportunities to young players.
Babar Azam and Naseem Shah cited workload management and upcoming international commitments as a reason behind them skipping the National T20. Also with Pakistan Super League (PSL) around the corner, the players are likely to prioritise playing in the league.
Given the inconsistent policies of the national selectors, these players are aware they will be back in the national T20 side - PCB source
"Given the inconsistent policies of the national selectors, these players are aware they will be back in the national T20 side if they just turn in a few good performances in the PSL which will also lead to them being hyped up on social media,"
Babar Azam has been undergoing a poor patch in his career
Babar failed in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He was handed the responsibility to open the innings but he couldn't deliver. The premier batter hit one fifty against New Zealand but it was very slow in the context of the game and then again failed to score big against India.
