Derrion Reid has been updated to questionable as Alabama readies for its SEC quarterfinal game against either Oklahoma or Kentucky on Friday, according to the league’s availability report released on Thursday evening.
Reid, a true freshman and a former 5-star recruit, has averaged 7.1 points for the Crimson Tide in 18 games this season. But he hasn’t played since Feb. 15 against Auburn due to a leg injury.
His highest-scoring game so far as a Tide player was against Creighton on Dec. 14, as he totaled 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting in an 83-75 win. Reid’s best all-around game was an 11-point, 7-rebound outing in a 94-79 win over North Carolina.
Alabama, the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament, is looking for its 2nd tournament title in the last 3 seasons. The Tide are currently projected as a 2 seed in Joe Lunardi’s bracketology and don’t appear to be out of the running for a No. 1 seed, but the SEC bracket works out in their favor if they’re to get to that point: they could play Florida in the semifinal and Auburn in the final.
Both the Gators and Tigers are projected by Lunardi on the top line in their respective regions (South and West), with the Tigers predicted as the No. 1 top overall seed.
