The officials at the Illinois Lottery have urged the winning player to come forward as soon as possible.

The winning ticket matched four out of five of the numbers and the Powerball in Wednesay’s drawing.

It was sold at a Casey’s General Store on State Hwy. 54 in Clinton.

Casey’s in Clinton will receive a one percent bonus of the prize amount, which works out to $1,500.

The winner has one year from the date of the winning draw to claim their prize.

In order to keep track of tickets, the Illinois Lottery recommends the winner writes their name on the back of their winning ticket.

They should then keep it in a safe place until they’re ready to claim their prize.

The US Sun recently reported on another open lottery game that is yet to be claimed, this time in the Mega Millions.

Players have been urged to check their tickets for a missing $1 million ticket that could change someone’s life.

The slip was sold at a Walmart supermarket in Meadville, Pennsylvania – which is located around 90 miles from Pittsburgh.

State lotto officials revealed the ticket was sold ahead of the draw on March 4.

The gambler has one year to claim their huge jackpot.

It isn’t all good news, however, as players who win more than $5,000 must pay 24% in tax to the federal government.

And, they must pay a rate of 3.07% to the state.

This is lower compared to states like New York which tax players at 10.9%.

Meanwhile, New Jersey and Oregon lotto winners are hit with an 8% tax on their prizes.

States With 6-Month Lottery Claim Windows

Some states have differing deadlines for when lottery players can claim prizes. Most allow a 180-day or one-year window before tickets expire and the money is forfeited. Below are the 180-day states:

Arizona Arkansas California Colorado Connecticut District of Columbia Florida Georgia Idaho Indiana Kentucky Louisiana Mississippi Missouri Nebraska North Carolina North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma South Dakota Tennessee Texas Virginia Washington West Virginia Wisconsin Wyoming

There has only been one Mega Millions jackpot winner of 2025.

This went to a player in Arizona, who scooped a $112 million prize.

The Mega Millions is to undergo a revamp in the coming weeks.

In October last year, bosses announced a number of changes that would come into force from April 5.

Currently it costs $2 to play the game of chance, but the price of a ticket will rise to $5.

This change has proved controversial and has shocked some players.

Some players have claimed they would stop playing the game because of the rise.
