Scottie Scheffler will be looking for his opening win of 2025 when he defends his title at the prestigious Arnold Palmer Invitational this week.
The tournament at Bay Hill, home to the legendary Arnold Palmer, is one of the PGA Tour’s signature events and boasts an all-star field again this year.
World No 1 Scheffler won the Arnold Palmer last yearGettyThe elevated events have been dominated by international players so far this season with Rory McIlroy winning at Pebble Beach and Ludvig Aberg at the Genesis.
But Scheffler won this tournament last year before going on to clinch glory at The Players and The Masters and will be eager to win again.
Scheffler shot a final round 66 at Bay Hill to finish on 15-under-par, comfortably ahead of Wyndham Clark and Shane Lowry.
And it’s Clark who has stormed to the top of the leaderboard, carding an opening round of 67.
Lowry, McIlroy and Justin Rose all enjoyed impressive first days too in tricky conditions around Bay Hill.

Following his win last year, Scheffler said: “It’s really special.
“Mr Palmer meant a lot to me, meant a lot to us as professional golfers and the game of golf, and so it’s very special to be able to sit here and wear his red sweater again. I’m very proud to be the champion of his tournament.
“[Winning] has a lot to do with keeping the mind as quiet as possible. Part of the problem is just trying too hard. It’s frustrating to not have the best out of myself, just because I know that I can putt really well. It’s not like I’ve been a bad putter my whole career. I’ve just gone through a stretch where it’s been tough. “I think [for this win] I did a really good job of not letting the misses get to me.
“(Caddie) Teddy (Scott) did a really good job of keeping me in a good head space. We stayed positive out there, and I hit a lot of good putts.”
