This week, Hasbro announced some major changes on the way for the iconic board game Monopoly.
As Popular Mechanics reported, the role of the banker is being eliminated from the game—along with the colorful paper bills players use to buy properties.
In the new version, the board's two most expensive properties—Boardwalk and Park Place—will be replaced by Rocket Launch Pad and Moon.

"Let's take a game that is already 90% luck and remove the only fun part: Handling the cash. Why not remove the the hotels, the board or even the friends? That will make it more fun for sure," wrote one commenter on The Verge's article about the new Monopoly.
Monopoly App Banking is heading to major retailers in August 2025 and will sell for $24.99. The accompanying mobile app is free.
